This is how I imagine my inner critic. Although I don’t like the name – “internal critic” sounds negative.
I prefer the name Gremlin. Or rather Gremlins, because according to psychologist Jay Earley there are seven of them:
Destroyer, Loafer, Conformist, Taskmaster, Perfectionist, Underminer and Controller.
In the realization of professional dreams, they stand behind the following:
there is always something in the way
you think that you are not suitable,
you think you know too little
you constantly postpone the moment of looking for a new dream job
you are afraid to make a decision to start a business.
or you are already developing your business, but you have the impression that you have hit the wall and are only bouncing off it.
Gremlins live in your head and try to motivate you in a rather brutal way: aggression, a large dose of criticism, and even insults. (Okay, there are also several of them in my head )
However, they have a very important function to fulfill. They stand on guard for something that is very important to you. They make sure nobody takes it from you! They may want security, stability, respect from others, maintaining a good image at all costs and many other things.
Yes! Gremlins definitely want to do well for you. However, they have two problems: firstly, they are very, very scared, and secondly, they can only communicate aggressively.
There is also good news! Gremlins can become your best buddies! They can give you strength and inspiration! You just need to recognize them, tame them and try to make friends.
I will talk about it later, but first I invite you to get to know your Gremlins. You can do this by completing my Know Your Gremlin test.Recommend0 recommendationsPublished in
